I've been away from dvd copying for a while and some things have apparently changed...I could use some guidance....
I want to make a copy of 'Click'...using DVDdecrypter to copy to hd, I get:Possible RCE protection found...I select the region (1), dvdecrypter does its thing for abut a min and then gives me read errors.
I look for any updates to dvdecrypter...apparently it is not being updated/shutdown ?????
So I find DVDfab decrypter. This apparently will remove the copy protection (that I thought DVD Decrypter would do). So now I made a copy using dvdfab, using 'main movie only' mode.
So my additional quesitons are:
Can I now use shrink to make a DVD5, as I did after using dvdecrypter?
Is there a better tool path than dvdfab+dvdshrink+nero to copy dvd movies?
Thanks for your help!

Yes, DVD Decrypter is no longer updated so it is wise to use DVDFab. Yes, you can use Shrink to now put the movie onto a DVD5.

As for your last question, some people prefer to burn with ImgBurn, another free program, rather than Nero but I personally don't see any difference. I use both of them. Good luck.

Both DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink haven't been updated in over a year. I still use DVD Shrink and autoburn with Nero 6. That's my favorite combo for DVD-5 backups.

Rip with DVD Shrink, set Nero to autoburn, and enabling AnyDVD in the background with those newer encryptions: Sony, columbia

With the newer releases that DVD Shrink can't handle,i'll enable AnyDVD in the background. AnyDVD by slysoft,is a background ripper. It's updated very regularly. Because it runs in the background,no extra step is involved for your normal dvd backup process. AnyDVD also makes a drive region free, has a ripper, and suppose to crack cd encryptions as well. This is not free, but you can get a free trial here:

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_...pers/anydvd.cfm

They run discounts from time to time-which there's a discount now till christmas.

Very simple with AnyDVD,once you see the little red fox icon in your lower utility tray-she's a running. By rightclicking that icon, you can enable and disable. Some pcs do have trouble with that program,so that's why I only use it when necessary, after DVD Shrink kicking out these errors:

CRC error
Illegal navigation error-Click
Copy protection error- Pirates of caribbean 2
Dvd shrink freezing up.

I like ImgBurn a lot better than dvd decrypter's burn engine. Ripping with DVD Decrypter- ISO mode and writing with ImgBurn is very effective for DL backups.

There should be some other free alternate routes if you search the messages for the dvd titles you can't rip.
