I'm relatively new to this, but I have been doing this particular task quite a bit, as you can get 'clean' audio from a DVD (like cool songs, soundbites etc) as well as short clips from a movie, or the extra (eg deleted) scenes. you can get all the scenes, or chapters from Smart Ripper, just check (click) ,after SmartRipper has authenticated the disc, those files you want and it will select only those to rip, for example, you can rip the Montage from gladiator's second CD this way and either play the 7 minute file, or convert it into VCD (like the guide on this site describes) , or split the file into .avi and .wav (With DVD2AVI), which means you are left with music (haha) which you could then of course burn to audio compilation CDs and a video file. If you ignore (sorry dRD) the downmix audio bit in the guide (48-44.1 KHz) then DVD2AVI works ten times as fast and the resulting .wav is CD quality 48KHz) and works on everything I have tested. You can use TMPGenc to cut (very rough edit) the footage by using the Mpegs tools option from file menu to do it.

This is as much as I have done, but it works well for me!

If you are having trouble figuring out which are the scenes you want in Ripper, the length is usually quoted on the DVD sleeve, or in the selection menu when you play the DVD. Any file of exactly same length in SmartRipper is then one you want!

Best of Luck
