I'm not familiar with the Liteon recorder per se. Try TMPGEnc Author. It's pretty good at dealing with DVD recorder file formats. This older linked version is fully functional for 30 days I think.

If the problem is with the disk, this won't help.

You might also try ISOBuster to grab the files:

Don't know about Liteon, but my Panasonic disks have to be 'finalized' before they are usable on another machine.

if you want to make a backup of your backup, what i do is copy on the fly, this works great for me, i use ashampoo to do mine, and that is disk to disk, you also might try Blindwrite,

Any of the disc copy utilities in the burning suites will copy. Nero, VSO, Sonic, take your pick. Hopefully you have something. Most PCs come with burning software of some kind if they came with a burner and they're usually packaged with burners. Even OEM apps should have a disc copy.

If you made the disc then there should be no DRMs left to interfere. Turn off all the encryption busters and try using a program, ImgBurn, to copy with an ISO file. That's how I do all exact copying for SL and DL discs. If the first copy is faulty, then not much you can do but redo the original copy from the original disc.

Why go through the task of creating an ISO when most disc copy apps will copy and burn files just as well as most apps burn ISO? Is it because ImgBurn is free?

I may be wrong but I don't think the problem is in how to copy but how to get any program to recognize the files created by the standalone DVD recorder. I know neither Decrypter not Shrink will read the files created by my RCA DVD recorder. TMPGEnc Author has no problems so I use it to process the files and then use Shrink if needed.

using a liteon dvd recorder... files created by the standalone DVD recorder... TMPGEnc Author has no problems LiteOn makes PC dvd recorders as well. I had no Idea it was a standalone recorder. Now that those pieces of info are all pieced together, does anyone want to venture a guess? My bet is on format compatibility. I'm not sure, but try opening in Nero Vision 4 if you have Nero.

See if post #2 has any relevance to your situation.
It is referring to the VR file structure on a Liteon disk.

DVD is an obsolete decryption tool that has burning software included. It lost support long ago and is obsolete for many of the newer releases. It wasn't a file conversion tool or for correcting files for DVD compliance.

What are the files in the DVD folder that is giving the problem? A regular DVD video has IFO, BUP, and VOB files in a VIDEO_TS folder. Open a backup you've done that works and compare to the one that doesn't.
