Hey guys,

I bought a Panasonic MiniDV 1000x Digital Zoom, 26x Optical Zoom camcorder (not sure of model number, since I've had it for several months.)

The question that I have is this - I want to take the film/footage and put it onto a dvd with high quality. I'm lost in this transition. I have all the required equipment installed on my pc - I believe. Where should I start? What are the settings that I should apply to the camcorder itself for greatest quality/performance playback?

Do I plug the firewire cable into the camcorder, open windows movie maker, capture the film, convert the .wmv into a dvd source, and burn with any program?

thanks guys.

(EDIT)

I've successfully captured the film, and burned to a DVD+R.

-I uesd Windows Movie Maker to capture..
-I used ConvertXtoDVD to convert into DVD source, and burned following.
-The quality is so-so.

-What are the best settings that should be applied to the Camcorder for High Quality?
-What settings should be applied to Windows Movie Maker for High Quality?

I feel the film was stretched to fit the TV screen does it automatically do this?

-If anyone has used the technique mentioned above, or knows a better way of completing this task please state it!

Here's a complete description of the process:

If you use MovieMaker, check this:

Furthermore, for best quality use the best availabe MPEG encoder and use the highest quality settings. The tool thay you are using is certainly not the best around....
