Are you talking about Dolby TrueHD?? If so i think the PS3 decodes Dolby TrueHD lossless audio internally but you still need a receiver that has HDMI connections to get TrueHD, it think the receiver would play TrueHD as PCM Bitstream or something like that.. Currently, there are no receivers on the market with Dolby Digital Plus or Dolby TrueHD built in, so you would have to use the analog inputs or multi channel inputs on your receiver in order to enjoy lossless audio...

Problem is the PS3 doesn't have 5.1 analog outs. You can get dolby digital 5.1 from the PS3 using the digital optical/toslink output.

Right, i understand that there are no analog outs on the PS3. I was just explaining to him how to get lossless audio with stand alone HD DVD or Blu-ray players through the analog outs on the receiver.. And in order to get True HD he'd need a receiver with HDMI for audio..
