i got a ver 15 slim ps2 if i use Taiyo Yuden and burn at 4x how long will the laser last b4 it gets disk read error's using swap magic and backup's or did the laser only die easy on the older fat ps2's
edited to make it abit easier to understand what im trying to ask
What exactly are you talking about? The Ps2 laser, or the laser on your burner? Either way, it really doesn't matter///backups shouldn't make your laser die, unless you put the in upside-down or something silly like that ;)

i was talking about the laser on the ps2 a lot of threads say that there laser died cuz it put more stress on the laser reading backup's and that its better to use a fat ps2+hdd so there is not much stress on the laser
i was asking how long the laser would work b4 geting disk read error's when using top brand media
I've been playing backups for.... going on 3 years (?) with a modchip first, then Swap Magic. Many of these backups were on poor media. I have yet to have a single problem or even a noticeable difference. Even if you do get your laser out of tune somehow, the "little white knob" method will fix it, 100%.
"There is no Neofix required for new v15-v16 PS2 SCPH-7700x series since the new motor driver IC RS2006EF now protects the slim laser 100%."
that means that sony has fixed the pstwo slim so it doesnt have the laser problem that the v12-v14's had.
so dont worry your laser will last as long you take care of your pstwo NO smoking, keep it in a open area, dont put scratched media, keep it in a dust free area
