everything says it burned ok at each stage, then when its done i put it in my dvd player (ive tried several others too) and it plays all the previews and gets to the menu and then it skips back to the previews again or freezes? Ive had this problem on a bunch of newer movies, even going back 1 year ago? anyone please help

let me lend you a hand DVD Shrink is no longer updated, I use this combo it works everytime and its all freeware, dvd fab decrypter get it at DVDIdle.com, you can go to downloads then select free stuff, then I rip the dvd to hard drive when its done open with DVD Shrink, and burn with Nero or DVD Decrypter, dvd fab gets updated everytime there is new copy protection so keep it up to date.

Hilt,
Welcome to the forum. For doing D/L burns all you need is ImgBurn and since you are using Verbatim try the burn @ X2.4. All you need to do is rip the DVD to the HD using the ripper function in AnyDVD. The program below is free and a guide is below:
http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=1777
EDIT: Talladega Nights has a looping problem and you either have to use Ripit4Me or the newest version of AnyDVD.

Why are you going to the trouble of ripping the file to the HDD with Anydvd's ripper? When I do a DL disc with ImgBurn, I just let ImgBurn build the ISO from the disc itself (without ripping first). I just set the source as the drive that has the movie in it. Does your way make a better backup? Or is it a wash?

That's actually not a bad idea. But I like ripping the dvd first to a HDD so that when i begin the backup process, it reads off of a file on a HDD. When working off a disc, or burning on the fly, there's always a chance for a sputter or anything like that.
On the original subject, my sig lists my method for backing up fully functional, personalized dvds.

garmoon,
I guess that I am old school when it comes to compiling a DVD. I want the files on the HD first and then if needed run the files through VobBlanker if needed to remove any of the problems and then run it through ImgBurn. I normally use DVDD and AnyDVD and rip the DVD to HD. Since the original poster had AnyDVD ,but did not mention DVDD, that is why I suggested he use the ripper function w/in the program as FixVTS needs the files on the HD to process properly. I do wonder though if you used AnyDVD along w/ Imgburn if the files would be processed properly and remove the looping in Talladega Nights. I'll try it and report back.

the only reason why I would rip to the hard drive first is to save the drive from wear and tear! Ripping is less stressful than burning on the fly ..... or so I was told in this forum. Whether that's true or not I don't really know but since joining AfterDawn my DVD burning experience has been flawless! No coaster, no more! LOL Soooooo a wise older member of this forum told me a long time ago (over a year and half ago!LOL) that burning on the fly may save a little time but it also is more stressful to the drive itself and ripping to the hard drive first may take a little longer but would be less stressful to the drive! I'm only relating back to what I was told here!

garmoon,
FYI, using Imgburn along w/ AnyDVD and doing Talladega Nights it crapped out. This is one that I think needs to be done to the HD first

Nice discussion here guys. Yes, it is recommended to always rip the movie into the hard drive first, especially nowadays with loaded of "corrupted protections" from both SONY and Macrovision. That being said, regardless if it's free tool (DVDFab Decrypter, RipIt4Me) or retail (AnyDVD), it is definitely safer to rip the DVD/movie to the hard drive first, then go from there.
Furthermore, the same thing applys to backing up as DL (DVD9) or DVD-R, DVD+R (DVD5). However, we're all entitled to our own judgment, so use whatever you deemed to get the job done.

@Hilt
If I remembered it correctly, ANT BULLY doesn't have any kind of special protection on it. DVDFab Decrypter 3.0.5.0 should be able to handle both ANT BULLY and TALLADEGA NIGHTS smoothly.
Below are some screenshots of how smoothly everything went. Actually, it's my kind of modification mode (i.e. DVDFab + VobBlanker). I could of have DVDFab Decrypter 3.0.5.0 (FREE) ripped just the "Main Movie" only with 10 minutes or so, but since I like to have a Menu, I ripped it as "Full Disc".
NOTE: I didn't even need to transcode my backup of TALLADEGA NIGHTS at all, I burn it straight with Nero Burning Rom. Backup came out perfect, everything plays beautifully.

I did Taladega Nights with AnyDVD running, Shrink to create the ISO file which I used to double burn two copies with Nero Burning Rom. I have since used that ISO to burn some more copies. I did not do the movie (TN)to a DL disc, but the ones I have done, have been done with ImgBurn building and writing the ISO with AnyDVD running.

garmoon,
Thanks for letting me know. The looping is when you do the whole disk and the only way I can get rid of the loop is to use AnyDVD(ripper) or Ripit4Me and they correct it as it is on the HD after the rip

As mentioned by Car.Mike, garmoon and I (way earlier on my first posted), DVDFab Decrypter is totally FREE, will always be FREE, unless Fengtao stop its development.
