Gran Turismo 4 won't load with my swap magic DVD disk 3.6

Hi there. I am new to this forum.
I have been using the swap magic disk DVD 3.6 on a Japanese slimline PS2. I have been playing New Zealand games Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec and GTA San Andreas. But I recently went back to NZ and purchased Gran Turismo 4 and bought it back to Japan. I loaded swap magic 3.6 and swapped it with GT4 (I have a flip-top). Loaded it, and the laser either:

1. won't spin the disk fast enough. It will not go back to the end of the disk, instead just sit in one position marking a jerking noise.

2. if it does go to the end of the disk it will not go back down again to the centre and thus will not finish loading the game.

Is it because GT4 is a bigger size game that GTA San Andreas and GT-3?

What can I do to fix this problem and play Gran Turismo 4?

I would appreciate any help.
