Help,sons console not working

Can anybody help please? my sons console (ps2 slim) is not reading discs and making a clicking noise.I have opened up unit and that by holding down the 2 micro switches that would normally be activated by case and lid I can see whats happening. the curious thing is that if i put in a music it powers up and disc spins normally but when i put a games disc in, disc does not spin properly and i get the clicking noise . Any advise please

the laser isnt seeing the disc. could be the disc is at fault or the laser. first thing i'd recommend is cleaning the lens with a Q-tip and alcohol.
