I'd like to know once and for all if it is possible to convert AVI to DVD WITHOUT a DVD burner. A friend of mine told me that it is possible to do so. When I asked him what drive I place my DVD-R into, he said in the CD drive...is he crazy or can this really work? If so, which programs do I need to do this? I already use TMPGE to covert AVI to VCD....many thanks!!

Tell your mate to stop talking crap is my advice.

If he wants to get more technical then I'd be happy to hear any jargon he wishes to lay on : )

P.S. DVD Burners have come way down in price , it seems an ideal time to check the market for one if ever you were gonna

Thanks man, that was awesome that you got back so quickly!! On a side note, what is the longest length CD-R you have come across? I am from toronto and the longest I have found is 99 minute CD-R's.

Remember that you can only burn 99mins on the CD with certain drives. Some only recognise up to 90 mins, others 95mins. it really depends on how new your burner is and remember to enable overburn in the menu of the burning program.
