i dont have a ps3 yet but im planning on where to put it when i get one. but is it ok for the ps3 to not be in front of where you would use the controller to use the sixaxis feature? in other words, does the ps3 have to be in front of the TV facing the controller to use thise sixaxies feature? somebody please let me know as im planning to get a ps3

short easy answer is no. you can have the ps3 off to the side of your tv, in front, above, under, backwards, almost anywhere so long as you have a long enough cord to connect it to your tv

The only reason you need the cord is to charge the controller. The SixaxiS is bluetooth and has a range of like 30 feet or more so it is not limited to line of sight like a regular IR controller. You might also be mixing it up with the Wii as it needs an included cord to go on top of the TV to recieve it's position in referance to the game.

No Ps3 does not have a Sensor Bar tahts what the Wii thing is called PS3 uses six-axis while Wii uses three-Axis the difference the Wii one is more precise (3 axis then the ps3 one-6-axis thats why it needs it the wii also lets you use all the buttons on the mote without being infront of the tv because its basic conectivity is blue toth but you cant actually use the pointer because thats done by the IR connnection
