Hi I wanted to backup my xbox 360 games so I came here to find out on hoe to do it and your site has great info. My question is I have a Xbox 360 with a Hitachi drive Firmware version:78 and I just found out that last sunday they releshed a program called Maximus 360 Firmware Toolbox v3.0 that can flash this drive. I already have the recomended Drives Pioneer DVR 111D to burn games and a Samsung SH-D162c with the modified firmware to read and copy my games to my PC Hard Drive. I took apart my xbox but I have no idea on how to flash it I read the stickys and Tuts on here but there complicated for me even. I read that I would need a Slax 2 CD and I need to hook up my xbox dvd drive to a SATA but I don't know what a SATA is even. Please help me if you can.

If you dont know what a Sata is, your in a serious hole. I would put your 360 back together, and get some reading up done. Check out some tutorials at xbox scene.

as mrlip said, if you're not sure what a sata is then you may struggle with other stuff to do with flashing a drive, read up as much as you can about flashing and when you think you're ready......read some more!!

the sata is just a way that the drive will connect to your pc. they have sata connections as opposed to IDE connections.
get reading and if you are still stuck or need help ask away.

p.s another place to check out is xbox360-hacks.com./ they have more tutorials on there too

I know What IDE is but I just talked to my friend and he said I don't have a SATA hookups in my pc so I was wondering could you buy a cheap SATA PCI like my friend told me? Also I read the tuts on xbox scene and I know how to hook it up to my pc now but all this stuff about keys and tags is confusing me alot. I thought you just flashed the firmware on the drive and that was it. Here the link to the FW [url=http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox360-tools/360FirmwareToolbox.php[/url]

you can get a pci sata card, that will be easy enough.
what drive do you have? this depends what method you will have to use to flash the firmware.
The firmwares out now do not need you to do any editing of your own, the files do it all for you :-)
