I've tried several times to burn one game but I just can't get it to work.
So far I tried:
I'm using Lite-On SOHW-173S with JS0D Firmware. This is my first time burning, and before starting, I updated my firmware to the latest JS0D. I would not know if it would have worked using the old firmware.
I also used Lite-On BookType tool. I set the Book Type to DVD-ROM. I checked "Save Setting" and kept it open while I was burning. I also verified later on the current disc book type after burning and it displayed DVD-ROM.
The DVD I used for all is Sony D21. It is DVD+R. I used DVD Identifier to find it out.
I verified I am using "DMA mode if available" on control panel, system, hardware for all IDE.
I've also tried using multiple DVD burn programs:
Nero 7.5
- I set the Book Type settings to automatic.
- Loaded the ISO, selected lowest setting, burn.
Run 1: Forgot to finalize, didn't work.
Run 2: Enabled Finalize, still didn't work.
Run 3: Finalize enabled, still didn't work.
DVD Decrypter
- I set it to burn in DVD-ROM book type from Lite-On under setting Change For: "Drive DVD+R/+R DL Media"
Run 1: Used SPTI - Microsoft in I/O, It didn't work
Run 2: Used ASPI - Downloaded a DLL from a guide here from Nero website, then saved it to c:\windows\system32, set it to setting. Still didn't work.
Alcohol 120%
- I set it to burn in DVD-ROM book type too.
Run 1: Didn't work.
I've run Nero CD/DVD Speed on Disc Quality. I got a rating of 95 for the DVD I think. I received maximum of 10, average of 3.xxxx on PI error. PO errors doesn't show and Jitter, even though they are checked (I think Jitter is grayed out, though checked)
If there are tools you want to have me try, I'd gladly try them and post results. If there are other ways you can be contacted, please inform me so I'll correspond in that manner.
Sorry but I forgot something else and can't find an edit button.
I have a PS2 with a modchip. I think the modchip is called Magic 3. It's rather old.
I had a friend copy the image from me (I burned the ISO, and sent it to him) and apparently it runs on his PS2 so the image is not the problem. Although, he has a more recent modchip, a different DVD+R and a different.
You didnt look very hard for the edit button. It's on all your posts & looks like -->
Hovering your mouse over it would of told you it was the edit button.
As for your problem, try cleaning the laser lens. If that doesn't work, then try changing media & get good quality 8x DVD-R (RITEK G05, Verbatim, Sony with Accucore), burning at 4x.
-R discs are better anyway, cos you don't have to bother about booktyping, and all PS2s can read -R discs.
