HD Video Output with HDMI Cable

I am having trouble getting my PS3 to output in HD through a HDMI cable. Here is the problem:

- I connected my ps3 through HDMI Out to the TV HDMI In. I turned on the ps3 and wasnt receiving an audio or a video signal on any of the video tabs on the tv. I connected the ps3 through the cables it came with. I then went into the menu and went to settings.

- I selected Display Settings/Video Output Settings
- It says current output resolution: 480i
-I selected HDMI , and the text at the bottom of the screen says, "If setting is not correct the screen will go blank temporarily. Then after 30 seconds the system will go back to the previous screen."
- This is exactly what it does. It goes blank for 30 seconds and returns to that screen.
-Yes the HDMI cable is plugged in, and it was a $100 Monster HDMI cable so I assume it is compatible with the ps3.

I am lost and just want to play in HD. Thanks for any and all help. Maybe I have to buy a specific HDMI cable for the ps3?

SORRY about that, I didnt realize iwas starting a new thread I already asked this question and was moved by a MOD, I didnt mean to ask again i thought i was replying to where it was originally moved. I tried deleting but cant seem to do it.
