How do I get around the codes on Sony rented videos so that I can burn them using DVD Shrink?

You'll need a program like RipIt4Me or AnyDVD. Since you're renting (which copying a rental is illegal since you don't own it to back it up, but that's another issue all together), I'd suggest the free route in RipIt4Me.
