wireless controller not working?

My 360 wireless controller (the standard one that comes with the console) is not working. Starting from yesterday, I simply couldn't connect it to the Xbox 360. I've tried replacing batteries many times, and pressing the big X button over and over, but nothing is working. It's really strange because I've only had it for about 4 months, any tips?

Press the little sync botton on the actual 360. It's next to the memory slots. Then press the Dash Guide botton on the controller. Should sync right up.

bball23 has to use the sync button on the top of the controller also and not the guide button
