Doing a swap WITHOUT Swap Disk to set up a memory card exploit?

Ok guys

The laser and CD motor are beginning to go on my now ancient PS2 and I would like to set up the Memory Card Exploit so that I can back up and play all of my games from a hard disk rather than the DVD drive.


I understand the whole process and have all the free software downloaded to set things up, but I will need to do a disk swap in order to get the CD with the prepared files recognised and then transferred onto my memory card.

Once done, I will use HD Loader from the card to run the hard disk games, so I will only have to do one single swap. Is it possible to do this with a normal PS2 game?

By that I mean that I understand that the main advantage of using the Swap Disk disks is that, after loading the necessary boot files it stops the DVD drive spinning, allowing you to perform the swap. Is it possible to do this by inserting and using the boot files from a normal disk i.e. one I already own, and then maybe ?timing it right? or something similar to make a swap to my copied disk.

As I only have to do this once, and not every time I want to play a game, so if its just a case of something simple like getting the timing right then I don?t mind sitting for a bit and trying over and over again until its right.

What?s everyones thoughts on this, and can you recommend any games or disks that might work well.

LOL. sorry i mean the SWAP MAGIC disks not SWAP DISK.
