I burn CD-R audio cds with Nero ver. 5 and attempt to play them in a DVD player that does not have MP3 but has CD-R capacity and it doesn't read the cd correctly. Is this a problem with encoding or with the type of CD-R i am using (cheap circuit city no name cd-rs). Thanks.
And Sony's players normally require CDRWs (there's one or two CDR brands that work as well, just don't remember the brands), just in case you happen to have Sony.
Yes, but those Sony shouldn't have CDr ability at all. If this one has officialy CDR ability, I think the CDRW trick is moot, and it's just a matter of brand/burning quality.
Try a better brand.
If you have a Sony DVD standalone, using cdrs manufactured by "Princo" (identified in the ATIP information) should solve 90% of your playback problems, whether the cdrs are burned as music cds, vcds, or mp3 data-discs. (I found this out from another forum in here, plus *hours* of painstaking burning of vcds for a friend of mine who has a Sony DVD standalone).
The only Princo-made discs I've seen though, are the no-name (generic) ones - no brand name.
Request Please: Does anyone know of any brand name cdrs I can purchase that *are* made by Princo? If my local Walmart ever decides to discontinue selling the no-name generic discs, (it will happen eventually), I'll not be able to burn anything further for my friend. (He doesn't have a burner).
I have not heard of that name before, "Pengo", and don't recall seeing any like-named discs in the computer or dept. stores, but I *will* make some telephone enquiries and do a bit of web-searching. If I can find some (any), it's a simple matter to see if 'Princo' shows up in the ATIP - and more importantly, if they play back in my friend's Sony dvd, *regardless* of whether they're Princos or not.
(I must ask him what his Sony's model number is too).
Yep, I was already there - they have All Kinds of cdrs - I viewed all their cd products. They seem fine, but I didn't notice any ability to place an online order. If worst came to worst I would want to try out just a couple to see if they work 'ok' on my friend's Sony standalone, as the 'Princo's' do. I wish Sony wasn't so damned picky - all my cdrs, any brand, vcd, red-book, or mp3 data all play back fine on my own (cheap) Sanyo.
I called up some of the local shops here in Halifax (Nova Scotia), but no one seemed to recognize the brand name.
No matter, I've stockpiled a modest supply of the (Walmart) Princo no-names for the immediate future.
