Am a newbie!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had this recorder for a few months and it was working fine. Recently its stopped recording. It doesn't even read disks which I have previously recorded from the same recorder!!!!!!! But it does play movies and DVDs that are rented etc...

When I insert a blank DVD(I use DVD+R) it asks to format it as usual and now it makes a loud whirring noise and at the end says "Initialization failed and doesnt read the disk. Even brand new ones.

PLz help am lost!!!!!!!!!!!!
