1st time user etc. I need your help please (i realise you guys are all experts at this)
I have a US PSP FW 1.50 - Bought when it first came out. I have taken my first bold step and flashed it to 3.02OE-A. My system settings says so.
(1) Can i go back to my original fw 1.50 ? If so how ? Simple instructions if possible please
(2) I have a Sony 4GB Memory Stick - when i go to games to try and read the memory stick, the psp freezes and then turns it self off. When i use a 2GB stick, i can access and play Blitz Overtime immediately. Does the 4GB need to be formatted somehoe ? or what is thew issue with a 4gb mem stick?
(3) Now forgive my ignorance, so where and how should Devhook 0.51010 come into play ? if i can play the iso file easily what purpose does it serve ?
(4) Lastly so do now emulate/play the PSX games please?
first up, id suggest updating to OE-B, you can play your own PS1 games
1. yes - install the recovery mod, and hit R - when booting the PSP, youll know what to do from there
2. i dont know about this one, i dont own a 4gb stick, did you format it in the PSP? is it a "real" card, try reformatting
3. i myself still prefer to use devhook, my brothers dont, theres no need To have it
4. didnt quite understand this question? i assume you mean how do you play it
Quote:Before starting to read, a note:
European games (PAL) give various graphics problems: graphics glitches, and displacement of screen.
It's better to use only NTSC games (american and japanese), whenever possible.
Instructions:
- Get the Hot shots 2 game of the playstation store, and its keys.bin, and put it in the same
directory than popstation, renaming it from EBOOT.PBP to BASE.PBP.
Even if using other ps3store game could work, it is not recommended because the program was
done specifically using this one. USE HOT SHOTS 2 USA.
(Note: this is needed in order to get the data.psp and a few data).
- Backup your psx CD to a cd image, using some tool for that.
- Put the iso in the same directory than popstation.
- Execute popstation.exe from the command line. You have to pass one parameter, which is the filename
of the iso. e.g:
Sorry, but I ask here just to avoid needing to create a whole new thread.
I only have one question: I have a 1.5 PSP, and heard many good things about this 3.02OE-A firmware except for one thing: it can brick your PSP when installing it.
True? and if so... how much chance there is for it to happen?
@RavenLife. what recovery mod? is the recovery mode not a built-in function of 3.02OE? so if bmj987 has 3.02oe he will not need to install a recovery mod no?
1) save 1.5 update as update.pbp and place in the recovery folder. then like RavenLife said hit R when hard booting the PSP and choose "run program at recovery/update.pbp" (or something similar)
2) make a ISO folder under the root of ur ms
3) devhook is not needed
4) get a psx game in eboot.pbp format and put it in game folder i believe.. havent played any PS yet ;)
@Grievous2. if u know what ur doing, its nearly impossible to brick ur psp.. if u dont know what ur doing, use the easy installer. it seems foolproof to me
First, my thanks to RavenLife and Earth_Boy for responding.
Apologies for my grammar.
(1) This question was really to make sure i could go backwards - but i get what you are saying now. ["Run Program at..." Option]
(2) The Sony 4GB MS, i got it from Hong Kong. It's authencity could be questionable. I do have an ISO folder in my root. I'll stick to my 2 GB sticks.
(3) So does that mean. i can place as many ISOs i can get on my memory stick and all the icons will flash up for selection on the PSP ?
(4) Yes this question was about how to play PS1 games now. I have access to Tekken 3 - the 3 files - where do these go? When you say "GAME" folder, do you need to make a subfolder? like the ISO folder which is in the root or you simply plop all three files in the "GAME" folder.
Thanks
My next thread will be asking about how you get the internet browser working. Until then.
