PSTwo Slim + Matrix Inf. = Random Freezing / random startup?

Anyone have this experience?

Have 3 friends have their PS2 slim V14 and V15 modded with a Matrix Homrebrew. 1 of them (V14, Gh-040-51) have no problem, while two of them have the exact same chip with the newest firmware (but with different version or different Motherboard) would randomly freeze on different games.

It sometime freeze on loading from memory card, sometime on system startup, sometimes on movie scene, or in the middle of a game. Sometimes it freezes so bad that we getting p-off just trying to finish a game

However I notice that when it freeze, the dvd drive seems very quiet, like it is not even spinning the disc as it have stopped or something

The media is all verbatim 8X/16X burned at 4X. All games work on the working PSTwo and my cubby V10 PS2.

The Chip sometimes would turn on and sometimes won't, and when it freeze I must unplug the system to restart

PS. I have swapped the working chip to the unworking system, but it is still doing the same thing.
Original game would freeze too, however I desolder the chip and running original copy, it wouldn't freeze at all.

I have triple checked all the connection and they seems fine, so I don't know. Any1 have come across this and have a solution?
