I recently just got the NME V1.2 im looking for someone who's installed one of these or has a installation guide for the Samsung drives any help would be appreciated
Remove the cover on your Samsung drive. There is a small circuit board
that needs to disconnected from the drive. Once you have the board removed from the drive you can mount the chip on the component side of the board. I mounted the nme on top of the largest chip with electrical
tape. My board had the black epoxy. I used a temperature controlled
soldering iron with a .031" point tip to remove those areas of the epoxy that was covering the connection points.
Anyone installed on Hitachi 78? (assuming since think this is newest drive, just got for Christmas) I know should not have to worry at least about any coil and adjusting laser per Underdogs website hopefully. Any helpful hints would be appreciated...
I installed a 1.2 in my 360 and it's behaving... strangely. Following the directions from Team Underdog (and repeated on AD at http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/445225) all my backups are intermittent - sometimes they work but sometimes they just show up as a DVD.
Now it can't be a bad disc image, or it'd never work correctly. And I don't think it's the drive, because it never fails to play the disc (again, sometimes as a game and sometimes as a DVD). I could fiddle with the laser trim pot, but that doesn't feel right because the discs never fail to read.
This is leading me to point the big accusing finger at the NME itself. It's as if the device is only sometimes doing what it's supposed to (that is, recognize a DVD+DL then do its thing).
Anyway, that's my experience so far. Hardly a slam dunk for the NME, but perhaps you folks have fared better.

BTW, I'm on a Sammy drive (ms25) and I didn't solder X or Y either.
