Hello.

Were you running AnyDVD in the background? A couple of people had problems with this but most did not. You cannot have DVD43 and AnyDVD installed at the same time. Here's a thread on the title.

I have on occasion had a title my BenQ 1655 had trouble with stopping at the same place each time, so I used my NEC 3550 for ripping instead.

You might give Ripit4me a tumble.

I removed DVD43 and reinstalled AnyDVD and tried to copy Running Scared again using Nero and still after 15% it stops with a error.

Hello.

Do you mean after 15% of burning? After 15% of ripping? After 15% of encoding with Nero Recode? Please note exactly what program you were using and what you were attempting to do.

ml3301,
Looks like you were ripping the file using DVDD w/ AnyDVD running in the background. You might have a bad mastering press if it occurs at the same spot everytime. Have you tried ripping it w/ the burner since you tried the DVD-Rom and that failed

I was using AnyDVD and Nero. While Nero is Ripping (Reading it) it registers 15% progress when it stops each time. I even tried to rip it on my Dell Notebook and the same thing happened. It read it until it reached 15% done and then I started getting the "Failed to read Sector 538808 - Illegal Mode For This Track" errors as listed above. Always at the same place even on two different machines and with two different copies of the Running Scared DVD.

At this point I have given up. Everything else I have tried to copy has worked. Just this Running Scared DVD has given me a problem.

The fact that both DVD disks stopped at the same point suggests a structural copy protection error. It would be unusual for 2 copies of the same title to have mastering errors in exactly the same spot. If it were at the layer break, I might be inclined to believe it. On the other hand if two different systems hang up at the same spot, it might be a mastering error if all combinations of software fail.

Does ripping with DVD Decrypter with AnyDVD running in the background stop at the same point as well?

What about ripping with DVD Shrink with AnyDVD running?

If you try ripit4me, be sure to disable AnyDVD.

This one wasn't anything out of the norm for me. DVDFAB and Shrink worked like a charm.

Hands down the best film of 2006...(In my opinion). I backed this up some time ago using AnyDVD & Nero 7 Recode 2. Again this was an intense and gripping tale. There is nothing special related to encryption on this disc. Maybe your having system trouble, Are you working from the original disc? If it's a file maybe it's corupted some how?:P
