So I get the "please insert ps format..." when turning on my PS2 and trying to boot the SM 3.6 image.
Tried both the DVD and the CD image, neither works; PS2 outputs that message.
(I burned the DVD image onto a DVD RW disc... that might be a problem? The CD image was burned onto a normal CD disc though, and as I mentioned it did not work)
I want to at least get the DVD image working...
Here's some info of my DVD image:
Sectors: 513,164 (MODE1/2048)
Size: 1,050,959,872
checked its md5sum too: 9aa13ed2908b07e9f56b0b3da4988c47

Well actually I just noticed that SM seems to also be a pressed disc... oh well.. I was wondering how it was able to boot up by itself...
I'll see if I can use the MC exploit + SM...
I guess there was a reason why some files about the MC exploit came with the downloaded torrent... I'm starting to feel stupid.

Hey Man,

Im a noob and dont know too much.
But i definately know that your blankd media wont work once you burn them.

I never use to believe this until i tried it today.

I tried the same game with 2 different brands of DVD's and 1 worked(Maxell) and the other didnt.

Yes, do not use Imation DVD's. They are poor media and will wear out your PS2 laser quickly and so your PS2 will no longer work.

PS2 - Swap Magic 2.0 DVD - Swap Magic 3.0 CD - Memory Card Exploit - Swap Magic 3.6 ELF - Swap Magic 3.8 ELF

PSP SLIM - OFW 3.71 - CFW 3.71 M33 - CFW 3.71 M33-2 - CFW 3.71 M33-3 - CFW 3.71 M33-4 - CFW 3.80 M33 - CFW 3.80 M33-2 - CFW 3.80 M33-3 - CFW 3.80 M33-4 - CFW 3.80 M33-5 - CFW 3.90 M33 - CFW 3.90 M33-2

Imation doesn't technically wear out your laser. I use imation for playing my backups online and works like a charm. You might want to check for bad sectors on the DVD's. If it is the type then get high quality DVD's like Verbatim. I use Verbatim and Memorex.

Man, its been proven already. There are so many threads on this forum telling us what 1st class media is (Verbatim/Taiyo Yuden/Ritek G05/Sony) and what poor media is (Imation/Memorex etc.) just look at the media guide. Most people cannot even play Imation DVD's on their PS2's. If you don't want to ruin your PS2 quickly, you should use better quality DVD's. Most games work better on the better quality DVD's. They may be expensive, but they are worth it.

PS2 - Swap Magic 2.0 DVD - Swap Magic 3.0 CD - Memory Card Exploit - Swap Magic 3.6 ELF - Swap Magic 3.8 ELF

PSP SLIM - OFW 3.71 - CFW 3.71 M33 - CFW 3.71 M33-2 - CFW 3.71 M33-3 - CFW 3.71 M33-4 - CFW 3.80 M33 - CFW 3.80 M33-2 - CFW 3.80 M33-3 - CFW 3.80 M33-4 - CFW 3.80 M33-5 - CFW 3.90 M33 - CFW 3.90 M33-2

This is kinda out of topic but if I used high quality DVDs, like Verbatim, with my PC for things like Vista RC1, will it actually load faster. Right now with memorex it pauses for each time it loads a new screen. I mean when it asks me my KB layout language it takes 2mins, then to CD Key it takes another 2mins, then HDD config another 2mins, then installation another 2mins.

Would help to know if it would load faster but I took the DVD to school and put it in one of comps and started it up from BIOS. It loaded fast even with the same memorex dvd. I think it's just my drive (LG HL-DT-ST DVDRAM 4163b firmware A106). Help is appreciated

this is just a guess:

I think the media will definately have an effect. If it does matter for a PS2(this i do know) then it can for a PC.
