Flashing PC drive to support ripping using Schtrom360xtract

Attempting to backup some orginal 360 Games using xboxbackup creator V 2.3 and Schtrom360Xtract V 3.1. Don't want to have to reconnect my xbox drive to the PC cause I don't have SATA. Had to flash it at a friends house. However it is my understanding that the PC drive needs to be flashed in order to read the xbox games to rip them. I have no idea how to do this and all the tutorials I have read have glanced over this fact. How do I flash it what happens when I flash it. Does it affect its ability to do other tasks such as burning other things? Sorry for being a total noob.

PC drive = Lite On DVDRW SHW-160P6S.
Media = Fuji Film DVD + DL.

Once this is complete I should be able to rip and burn.

Please also let me know which of the two programs is easier to use

dude,

you need a samsung dvd rom sh-d162c drive and flash it to be able to read the games.

good luck because all of the blood sucking sellers on ebay are asking for an arm and a leg for this drive (about $60 for this drive on ebay!)

Is that for burning only or just ripping. If I cannot use my burner for ripping can I hook my xbox drive up to my friends pc and rip off that drive then burn with my pc dvd burner?'

yes, but why? then you have to merge the ss file. You can use the samsung to read the game (using Schtrom360xtract) and use your lite-on to burn. Remember to set your lite-on to booktyp dvd-ROM
