Hi - I apologise if this has been answered a thousand times before...

Basically - I downloaded the DVD Shrink here - and burned a copy my Disney Cars DVD to my laptop. I wanted it on there because I had no Blank DVD's. Now I have some, is it possible to use a program to burn the VOB files it has created onto a disk - or do I need to do it again, and use the ImgBurn Software Ive been reading about.

It just seems a little weird I cant use any kinda free ware to burn VOB's....Ive had a little look to see if i can find anything - but the things Ive found, I didnt know if to trust or didnt want to pay! :S

Any help would be great!

Thanks for your time!

Paul.....the lame noob!

Welcome to Afterdawn!
ImgBurn can be used. Generally you make an iso file with Shrink when using ImgBurn.
You can use it to burn the VOB files though.

Here is Alkohol's guide:

ImgBurn can burn VTS files. You used DVD Shrink, and what other program to get the Disney film on you HD? DVD Shrink is a great program but it is not updated any longer. Normally Shrink can not both decrypt and shrink a movie.

The best method for a newbie:
First use DVDFab Decrypter. It is updated regularly and can decrypt just about anything. You can get that here: http://dvdidle.com/free.htm

The second program you should become familiar with if you want to stay on the FREE routine is to download VobBlanker. You can get that here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_.../vobblanker.cfm

One of my buds alkohol wrote a nice guide for beginners you can read it here: http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm?id=1481

After you have gone through these two processes you should be able to burn a movie like cars with a good compression ratio. I think I burned my copy at around 72%. You want to try to stay as high in the percentage ratio as possible for a good quality backup.

You already have DVD Shrink. Now with DVD Shrink you can compress your movie in a VIDEO_TS folder or you can convert the image to an ISO. ImgBurn, DVD Decrypter (Not DVDFab Decrypter), Nero and I'm sure a few other programs can burn ISO images.

Last but not least, if all else fails there is a great program that is a little time consuming but gives great results. The program is called RipIt4Me. You can download it along with DVD Decrypter, FixVTS, and DVD Shrink. You already have Shrink so you do not need to worry about that. There is a basic guide at this web site along with the files you will need. http://ripit4me.org/

alkohol also wrote a basic guide for newbies on RipIt4Me. You can read that here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/422740

If you have any more questions feel free to ask.
Good Luck!>)
