The movie was downloaded ok but when I go to play it certain parts skip and get hung up. At first I thought it was the DVD player but I tried another one and it did the same. How do I fix this or what happened???

Hi.

This is sometimes the result of using poor quality media, burning at too high a speed for the media, or out of date firmware.

Good quality media is Verbatim and made in Japan labeled media like Fuji, Sony, and Maxell. Sometimes it's best to burn at half or less the rated speed of the media as long as your burner supports that speed. Some always burn at 4X. Firmware is available at the site below as well as at the vendors support site.

Not much info to go by.

How was this movie dowloaded?
Example: Ripping original dvd or transfering Avi/bit-torrents to ISO,VOB,MDS,etc

What's the brand name, speed rate, and format of your blank discs?
How fast did you burn them?
What's the brand name, model #,and firmware version for your DVD-RW drive?
What programs are you using: Transfering, ripping, compressing, encoding, burning?

See how that backup looks when you view it on your pc,using the same DVD-RW drive that burned it,to play it.They should look almost like the original during playback.

Media quality like laddyboy posted is the usual culprit, but there's also over a dozen of other things that can cause this:

1) Media quality-low quality stuff will have more issues during playback.Even bad batches of media can occur.
2) Burn speed
3) Backup target size-avoid burning the outer edge of disc-4360 mbs max.
4) No paper/sticker labels
5) Avoid multi-tasking-turn off all unnecessary programs.
6) Heat issue
7) Fragmented HD-Keep the hd/s defragged regularly.
8) Spyware,malware-keep registry clean
9) Ample powersupply
10)Burner quality-there's some poor burners out there, also keep firmware up to date.
11) Dirty laser lens-usually when it's 1 drive that shows those issues.
12) Burn engine-some of them will vary and stand alone players can pick them out.
13) Programs being used for transfering AVI,bittorrents, jpeg or other files into an ISO/BUP or similar dvd format.

And the list goes on.

With all those culprits, finding out if your burner can play it's own backups will help narrow it down.
