DVDFab, Shrink, and Decrypter to burn with (ISO files) is a good combo, but if you plan on burning to disk using Imgburn, try using this version of Shrink, you can set it to autoburn using imgburn:

DVDshrink to autoburn with imgburn
http://www.dvdr-digest.com/software/dvdshrink.html

The problem you're encountering when trying to burn to disk could be caused by several things:

1) Media, poor quality media can and will cause burn errors/failures. If you've recently tried/or switched to different disks, they could be the problem, try using Verbatim or Sony (look for the made in japan label if possible). It's possible you may have a bad batch of disks.

2) Outdated firmware for your burner. Updates usually provide added media support which will help it recognize the disks and write to them successfully. You can use DVD Decrypter or imgburn to check the firmware version installed as well as use them to look for an update. Here's a guide that will help you thru the process..

http://www.digital-digest.com/articles/firmware_howto_page1.html

3) Burning too fast. Some media likes to be written to at slower speeds (especially if it's poor quality stuff). Stick to 4x or 1/2 the rated speed on the media.

4) The lens on the burner may be dirty, try blowing some air into the tray area with it opened, or use a cleaning disk.

5) Your burner maybe defective, if after trying all of the above suggestion you can't burn anything, it's time to suspect the burner.

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
failed to read file x:\ data error cyclic redundancy Data error

Possible causes:

The disk is either badly scratched, diry/smudged in areas where info can't be read correctly, a bad press (digitally faulty), or copy protection shrink or decrypter can't handle because of its discontinued support/advancement.

-If the disk looks dirty/smudged, clean it, then try again.

-If it's copy protection that's causing shrink/decrypter to spit out the error... then try any one of these options:

1) DVDfab decrypter, it's a very good and supported free whole movie ripper/decrypter. Use it to rip the video files to your HDD, open the files ripped using shrink and proceed as you normally would.

DVDFab
http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

2) Ripit4me, it takes the ripping/transcoding/and burning process and makes it a one click task. You'll need DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, and FixVTS to make it all work.

Ripit4me
http://www.ripit4me.org/

3) Download and install the trial version of AnyDVD. Once installed, run DVD dhrink as you normally would to produce a backup, AnyDVD runs in the backround to crack the copy protection on the disk.

-If the disk is clean and any of the above methods fail, you could have a possible bad press, if so then you'll need to exchange it for another and try it again.

You can get imgburn here:

Thanks John
I have a short memory but I think that error is coming up during the burn session with Decrypter. I thought that Decrypter was just a burning software when your using other programs such as 'Rip" or DVDFab.I'll try what you recommend. Thanks for the good info.
