hello.
i have read through many pages of many threads on this forum and other sites trying to find some help to my question. today i bought an action replay max, it came in a silver tin. i thought this would let me play backups. but, all the methods ive read involve the use of "media player" that is supposed to come on the armax disc. mine does not have this. i thought it might be an older version, but the underside of the disc says "ver 3.60". is it the case that my version is too new and theyve taken the media features out of newer releases? also, is there anyway i can use what i have to play backups, or was this a completely wasted purchase? thank you.

So when you boot the ARMAX disc and you get to the menu you don't see an icon on the bottom bar that looks like a film reel?

thats right. theres three icons, one is "expert mode" and takes me to a list of games, the next is "memory manager2 or something and takes me to a place to manage game saves. it can recognise usb pen drives but doesnt recognise whats on them other than game saves, as ive tried loading cdloader.elf onto lots of usb things that it recognises, but doesnt see whats on them. so i cant use this avenue. the next thing along is "dvd region x" and im sure you know what that does. on the bottom right of the screen theres a "settings" button, and this doesnt mention anything to do with media. neither does the box, or the instruction manual. but the disc says 3.60. im thinking the media function didnt use to be there, but then for later versions they implemented it, and now for the neewest ones theyve taken it away?

does this mean my armax disc is useless other than for cheats? can i not implement it in some kind of exploit?

Sadly it appars its only use will be cheats and to play DVDs. Did it come with a second disk that is labled "media creator software"? Mine is version 3.36 and is labled on the disk as Action Replay Max.. it sounds like you have a cut down version.
