Can a Hard Drive modded XBOX go on XBOX live?

If I were to add a new HDD to my XBOX, would I be able to go on XBOX live with it?

you can, but you will get banned i think, maybe if you uninstall your softmod from the drive once you have it in it may work, but im not sure why you would do that unless you want a media center xbox that can play live...
