easiest way to get into mode b for samsung fw28?

Hello. I read around and noticed that samsung fw28 drives dont let you get into mode be easily. So what are some options to get into mode b that arent that hard? I saw the xeno/xecuter connectivity kit may work? Is that true? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

You don't put Samsung drives into mode b. That's only for Hitachis.

I thought i read in the one tutorial that i had to do the pin trick for the sammy fw28 drive in order to get into mode b so you can flash? So if i dont do that, i just have to have mtkflash right with my chipset for sata and it will work then?

There are a few different tricks for MS28, but mode b is just a Hitachi thing. This is one of the simplest methods I've seen.


1. Turn off the Xbox 360 and PC.
2. Connect the SATA cable from the MS28 drive to the PC, and also use croc clips to be safe.
3. Leave a PC CD or DVD drive on one of the IDE channels
4. Turn on the PC and boot from floppy , but leave the 360 off.
5. When you get to command prompt, turn 360 on.
6. Type this command: mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin and hit enter
It should display your ports. Do NOT select anything, just leave it at the "menu"
7. Turn off your 360.
8. Now, select the port the 360 was connected to, even though the 360 is now off.
9. It will "pause" when you select that port, count to ten, and then turned on the 360
10. It started reading automatically

Please note this isn't my work here. I haven't even flashed a MS28 yet, but I've been following them a little and know mode b isn't part of it.

last i check then olny way to flash the ms 28 was to desolder something in the 360(vcc method) but if u have a VIA chipset on ur sata card then u can have xtreme bootmaker use MS28 bad flash compatibility, than it'll be just like flashing a ms 25, id suggest getting a via chipset sata card if u dont have one, its only 15$ on newegg, alot cheaper then buying a new 360 if u mess up the solder.
that just what i know, memknock's method probly works

hi i have a ms28 and i want to flash
i have ordered my chipset
but when i put in the flopppy that i made in xtreme bootmaker it dosent boot up do i have to have my 360 conected for it to boot up

and also when i get me chipset how do i do the mtk flash thing and get it ready to flash

greatly appreciated

Baljit, you need to make sure your bios is set to boot from floppy. Then it should read your floppy disk.Search google for textbooks tutorial, and follow the VIA method for flashing an MS28 and your set.
