with my chipset for the pci sata card- via 6421 , do i have to do anything other than connecting my xbox hitatchi ver 59 drive to my sata port? I know for the samsung drive, i have to use a version of mtkflash that i downloaded so it will pick up my drive. So do i have to do anythingfor the hitachi? Thanks for the help!
You the slax method to get the drive into modeB so that windows can assign it a drive letter. It's a different method with hitachi's, just for that VIA chip, you need to use Slax2 instead of Slax1.
1.opened xbox unplugged sata cable from back of dvd drive.
2.created boot disk (cd) floppy wont create boot disk
3.put mtkflash.exe---mtkflash.typ---xtreme.bin---xtreme0800.bin
on boot disk
4.installed rosewill rc-212 sata pci card with via 6421 chipset
5.connected xbox dvd drive to sata card via sata cable
6.booted pc to a: typed mtkflash r/m orig.bin
7.said reading went to 50% back down to 0% (did this twice)
8.rebooted to windows file orig.bin is on floppy
9.opened orig.bin with hex workshop went to 4000 then 200 copied info
10.opened xtreme.bin went to 4000 then 200 pasted copied files from orig.bin saved as modified.bin
11.booted to a: drive again entered mtkflash w m modified.bin
and got port 170 master/slave:b0 everytime i do it
12.tried burning the 0800.bin file to DVD+R DL and using mtkflash to read or write the firmware again but thats all i get.
13.downloaded lost planet from a web site file extracted to .iso file and a .dvd file. burned with clone cd and dvd encrypter(set the layer break to the appropriate number neither copy worked but i did get a screen that said please put disc in a xbox 360.
14.using pioneer 111 burner verbatim DVD+R DL media.
I have spent about 12 hours on this today someone please help me.
i have tried waiting 10-20 seconds with the 0800 disc in the 360 tried turning on the xbox once im at the prompt for mtkflash
i don't know what else to do

You're trying to flash a Hitachi drive like you would a samsung. You can't flash it that way.
You need to stop everything you're doing and read
First Step - Obtain OPA-Xtreme 2.3 Stealth Revision 2 firmware
2nd Step - Obtain the SLAX2 .iso and burn it to CD with Nero (burn image)
3rd - Hook up the 360 to the VIA card via SATA. Power the 360 and boot with the SLAX CD in your boot CD/DVD Rom drive
4th - After Slax finshes, reboot your PC (take out the slax disc)with the reset button while leaving the 360 ON. If windows hangs while loading, eject the 360 drive tray
5. Read the readme file withing the opa 2.3 firmware package
6. Flash your hitachi drive
7. You don't need mtkflash.. you run a batch file from the firmware package. Flash23s.bat or flash16.bat Read the readme file (or .nfo) for instructions on how to use it.
I have a problem concerning this 6421 PCI Sata card,I have successfully put my Hitachi drive in modeb but after rebooting into windows I get a "Hardware initiate failure,BIOS does not installed" message and the PC hangs forever at the loading screen.
Am checking my BIOS details now to see if I can disable RAID but if anyone has any suggestions,sing out.
