UMD drive problem. Help greatly appreciated

I recently totoaly disembeled my psp and reasembeled it in a transparent case (faceplate + backplate + umd door). My psp is wprking fine apart from when i try to play umd's. My psp takes ages to recognise and load them and the drive makes and awful grinding noise.
Please help if u can.

no, my games are all fine and ive checked them in another psp. I no its part of the umd drive and i think its the worm gear that the laser moves along on. If anyone knows if this can be fixed or if i have to buy a new drive could they please help.
