Not sure if i'm in the right place but i'm sure you guys can help me.
I recently bought a ps2 off of ebay and it was probably refurbished. The ps2 has played every game well so far except for Guitar Hero II. I just got it over the holidays and when i put it in, it will show the ps2 logo, then freeze before it gets to the "red octane" logo. Guitar hero 1 works just fine...
Would i be able to fix my problem with the standard guides on the internet to fix "disk read errors"? Or is this different since i only have problems with one game?
Well, i tried the game itself on other consoles and it definitely works fine.
I took it to my friend's house the other day and it could not play nba live, ncaa, or madden 06 along with guitar hero 2. Oddly enough madden 07 and guitar hero 1 works fine.
What should i do? Should i treat this problem as if i was getting a "disk read error" message (which i haven't gotten yet)?
well treating it like a disc read error means adjusting your laser
which could make things worse because if you do it wrong and forget the original position then it may stop playing the other games
so that would be a last resort.
Cleaning the laser may help, but again if this is the only one that doesn't work then i think the problem lies somewhere else.
Like for example i had a game, Blackhawk Down, that would freeze at the point where you save the profile in the very beginning. All my other games worked. I figured it was a bad copy so i got another one which gave me the same results. I later just for kicks took out my 16MB save card and put in my original Sony memory card. And the game booted right up and played.
So try out a few things. If you have a mod chip then try disabling it or playing with the settings.
i would not go fooling with your laser as that is least likely to be the problem.
