Ok, I just got my xbox 360 core system
The drive tray appears to be Hitatchi from what I can tell from pics on the internet and the manufacture date is 2006-08-23.

Now I did some reading and saw somewhere that the newer and harder to flash Hitatchi drives started being included "after augest", does that mean september and on, or including augest? And if it is including augest is there a 100% chance I have the newer Hitatchi or a smaller percentage?

I have a Gigabyte GA-P965-DS3 Mobo with,
Northbridge: Intel® P965 Express Chipset
Southbridge: Intel® ICH8
GIGABYTE SATAII controller

Now I found some website where it listed Onboard SATA: * Intel Chipset (ICH5 / ICH6) as being compatable, it's possible this site is older and made before this mobo came out. I'm kinda assuming/hoping that I'll be able to use the onboard sata but has anyone had any experience with this particular motherboard?

DVD burner is Pioneer DVR-111

I also noticed the only way to play original xbox games with with the optional harddrive, what is the main reason for that and does the 64mb card count?
