Hi, i got the sub file for star wars 1, it was out of sync, i made all the changes, all the sync... then i multiplexed it with the avi file with submux from vobsub... after this i deleted the sub files cause it was allready done...
now, playing the multiplexed avi i have all the subs perfect and in order, but when making the conversion, with tmpg or virtualdub, the subs aren't there... solution???

Multiplex == join two data streams together. So, you have AVI which has three data streams -- audio, video and subtitle streams.

The problem is that you obviously don't want this, but instead, want to have the subtitles to be joined permanently with video? This is called "burning" the subtitles into video and is done in different way.

Can you explain how can i burn the subtitles on avi? I know there's a way with the subtitler plugin or the vobsub plugin on virtual dub, but that would mean one more conversion ( less quality ): avi -> avi w/ subtitles -> VCD...

Since i have the multiplexed avi with the subtitles, and the same image quality, is there a way to convert it to VCD from there?

thanks, but that didn't help... cause ripping and converting from dvd i know. My problem is that i have the movie in divx, no ifo file. I have no srt or sub file cause i allready multiplexed it on the divx file. But converting on tmpg or virtual dub, the subtiles are gone. They're only showing on Media Player.

You need to separate (==demux) the subtitle back to a separate file. Then you need to unfortunately re-encode the file in order to add the permanent subs and this _WILL_ lower the overall quality of the video file, sometimes dramatically.

But this is really the only way. So, try to figure out how to Demux the sub out from AVI (maybe the same tool that you used to mux it in?), then use VirtualDub, load the AVI, go to filters, select VobSub, load the sub file, select from video menu "full processing mode", select compression settings as you wish (you need to encode it again to DivX) and encode the video again, this time with subs.
