Please help decide best way to go before making purchases. I have lots of old home videos of my child that I may want to edit if I ever get the time, but want to get to DVD now the best and easiest way that will also give good quality.

Thanks!

i bought a dvd vcr combo recorder. the first one i bought gave me troubles. they didnt have another of that brand so now have LG. it works great. just dont want u to buy one and think it wont work. mine works great. i had some old film transfered to vhs yrs ago and then with this machine put it on dvd. u could copy the whole vhs on to dvd and then use the computer to edit. there are lost of programs that do this. to me they are to hard to learn so i just put the vhs in and a blank dvd and paused the dvd and ff the vhs past what i didnt want. knina the old fashin way. once i hade my edited version on dvd i used the computer to make copies of that. very easy.

Thank you for your response. Can the DVD's you recorded from VHS be downloaded to your pc for editing with out losing quality?

So, your VHS/DVD player/recorder converts VHS analog to digital? Maybe I'm confusing things due to understanding if I use my pc to record I will need a capture device to convert anolog to digital.

I have a video capture card installed on my comp and I use Nero...just transfer the video to hard drive, edit and then burn to DVD using Nero...easy AS

No loss of quality....use GOOD quality discs if you want your project to last, I use and recommend Verbatim or Sony (made in japan), good luck.
