hey guys.

I've decided to mod my PS2, but now I'm stumped on which Mod Chip I should get.

I've many good things about the:

Matrix Infiniti (Green Dot)

and

DMS4 S.E.

I've read all the specs about them both and I seems to like them both, so I need some advice!

Which Chip would "more for the money"?

Which one is harder to install?
Which one is over-all the better chip?
Which has the best support?

Thanks guys!

there really is not answer to that question.
They are both top notch chips. And either would be a
great choice for your system. They are both about the same as far
as the install goes.
The only real difference i know, and this may have changed since i last looked at their newest flashes, is that the DMS4 Pro chips using ToxicOS flash have built in software for running an internal hard drive, and the Matrix chips did not.
If you have no plans on adding one then either one you will love.
And if you have a slimline adding the hard drive will cost you a bit
as far as more modding needed for an internal model.
The older fat models it will fit right in.

Neither is any more difficult to install - although I do find the DMS4 settings a little easier to understand.

Like Steimy said, if you have a system that supports a hard drive, I would lean towards the DMS4 Pro chip.

Neither chip has much support from the manufacturer, but that's what we are all here for!

Thanks Guys

I tihnk I'll end up getting the Matrix Infinity (Green Dot)

Although I really don't see anytihng to determine which would be a better chip.

I do have the Slimline model, so I don't have a slot for the hard drive, and I dont think I would need one. I have a 2GB Usb Drive that I can dedicate to my PS2.

I do seem to like that you can turn the chip on or off, in case of on-line play and I did see that the Matrix Infiniti Chip turns its self off after boot to save power, and it can turn it's self off it it gets too hot.

I tihnk that alone, gives it the small edge it needs to beat the DMS4

Thanks for the help.

You can disable the DMS4 chip as well for online play. Never heard of a mod-chip getting "too hot", that doesn't make any sense!

to be honest if you want a chip for online play then your best choice is the new Crystal chip V2.0
Once flashed with the firmware on the net it has what is known as
DNAS auto patching.
This means that you can back up games and play them online without
having to manually patch each one.

each chip has it's own unique features, but for the most part the 2 mentioned and the one i just added would all do the same basic job.

Most chips do have an auto shutdown mode in case of problems. But the only one i remember seeing had to do with the PS2 laser
and the fact that the chip would shut down to save the machine from damage due to excessive voltage to the laser, which would burn it out. But that is why they make laser fixes as well.

A DMS4 Pro chip is best if you plan on playing originals online and plan to add a hard drive later on. When you want online play you can just disable the chip which is not needed when loading original discs anyway.

So figure out ALL the things you plan to do with your PS2 before you decide on which chip you want. Reasearch will make for a much more informed choice.

The CC2.0 is the most active chip being supported by any team right now. When you use the CC2.0 and the most resent patched HDL you have a chip that rivals and surpasses the DMS4 in many areas. The new In Game Rest (IGR) feature that the CC has is exclusive to them and a much needed feature for the PS2 mod scene for years now.

There has always been much activity from the CC team which is nice to see when teams like DMS has disappeared.
