I have only own my psp for 3 day. The first day I bought the hard ware and some games (lego starwars 2 and Harry potter) but no memory stick. Everything worked fine. I took it home and update the firmware to the latest (3.03) still everything worked fine.

I got a good deal on a new 4GB memory stick PRO Dou- SanDisk from Frys. Took it home and formatted the stick and was able to transfer movies to my stick.

So I start to play my games:
1. Harry Potter- would not let go past the start up screen. I say that it is trying to save a game. Then it just freezes.
2. Star Wars ? says there is not enough memory must have a 128kb free memory (I have well over 3 GB of memory, the movie only took up 475 mb of memory)

I wipe out the movie and reformatted the card but still it does the same thing

So some research on the Sony website and it say:

?For customers using PSP® system software version 2.80 or earlier:
PSP® systems with system software version 2.80 or earlier do not correctly recognize high-capacity Memory Stick PRO Duo? with more than 4 GB of free (recordable) memory space.?

Also the website says:
?This occurs in system software versions 2.80 or earlier and can be resolved by updating the system software to version 2.81 (available from September 7th, 2006). We strongly encourage our users to update their system software to version 2.81, particularly those users who are planning to purchase high capacity Memory Stick PRO Duo memory cards with capacity larger than 4GB * who should ensure that they have installed version 2.81 before using these high capacity memory cards. Furthermore, we also recommend our users to continue updating the system software as updates become available, to enhance the system security and enjoy added features on their PSP®.
?

Since I am running the new firmware this should not be a problem and my stick is 4 GB not over.

Has anyone experience this?

What can I do?

Is the card bad?

Thanks for any help
