Ripping Portions of DVD's - VOB's - Please help

Ok - what I am wanting to do is either rip a porion of a DVD ( vob file ) and convert it either during ripping or after into a MPEG or AVI file

I tried using FlaskMPG to covert a vob into an MPG but the quality has terrible

I used Dr Divx to encode a vob that I ripped using DVD Encrypter into a MPG and that works ok - but I was wondering if either there was a free utility oit ther can do the same thing - perhpas eliminating a step or two

Also after I encode the VOB I have to basically cut out the section I want using Mpeg/AVI splitter


Is ther an easier way?

You can choose which chapters of the dvd you want to rip and leave the unwanted ones alone.

You can use gordian knot, which is free btw, to encode the vobs to divx or xvid whichever you want. Its a little complicated to use at first but if you keep at it, things will make more sense and itll be easier to use.

Oops, double post.

My Apologies...

But, now that im here, you can use virtual dub to cut out the parts of the encoded movie you want and discard the rest. The guide to doing this is found on the afterdawn link i gave you.

Also, its not a good idea to post your email adress on the board, unless you want more spam in your email box...
