How long do you need to play for before it overheats? Also what happens when it overheats? I have a modchip, will this affect playing times?

You know it only "seems" to overheat. It's never actually shut off or gone to a black screen. <--- (they say this is what happens when it overheats) ----- I?ve noticed on movies that it skips badly after playing a bit, without the mod chip. After putting the mod chip in I had already voided the warrantee and didn't want to go through all that work again. So instead of allowing my ps2 to run so hot, I found this to be the perfect way to keep it much cooler and preserve my ps2 for years to come. Now I haven't had a single problem and it runs so much better.

oh man, that has got to be the weirdest solution for the overheating problem that i have seen yet.
Sure, why don't we all just drill some holes in our case. :(
you could have at least made it look cleaner, like the holes were
meant to be there.

You do know that they make USB fans you can attach.
Also the HD Combo case that has 2 fans
Also you can just set a small house fan in front of the unit.
Making sure it is off the carpet and has good airflow will also help.

I'm just so disappointed that you don't like my holes. LOL Actually if you look at my web site you'll see better pictures and it looks like it is supposed to be this way. And also the way that the case is designed inside it almost separates the ps2 right down the middle so the USB fan (which draws more power and causes more heat) can't work as well.

I looked at all the pictures, and i am glad it solved the problem for you. But it would not be the solution i would choose.
Although i also do not mind spending a little money to make
sure my system is top notch either.
The HD Combo case with it's dual fans solved the problem for me.
And i am running a modchip and 250GB hard drive in mine.

steimy, I'm not sure why you posted on this thread. I posted this for people like me that just want a slim ps2 without adding more crap to it just to keep the heat down. But since you have, do note that you have the v12 slim, and i have the v14 slim. This HD combo case does not work for my ps2 because the connections are different I guess, unless you know otherwise. The combo case does look neat though, but then it makes it fat again.
