Im on the part on the board that has a bunch of rows of little copper points. There are about 10 points here that need to be soldered, but I cannot get the solder to stick here. Does anyone have any tips?

Yes you need lots of flux and you need to prepare the points first by very carefully scraping them with a scalpel. Then flux them, then put some solder onto them, then solder your 'tinned' wire to them. If you do it right, you should only need to hold the soldering iron onto the wire and the point for half a second and all the solder will flow together and create a good bond.
I've modded around 20 PS2 slimlines and probably another 20 larger PS2's and everyone is still working perfectly. The best modchip to use at the moment is the DMS SE PRO if you have enough money, or the Duo3 if you want a good budget chip (I always use Duo3 as standard).
Good luck, remember to always PREPARE the soldering points first, use good flux (I always use a flux pen), tin your wire ends first, TAKE YOUR TIME and do it properly.

I have to disagree with you. The Crystal Chips are a much more reliable chip and not to mention the team is still active unlike the DMS team that has disappeared and has not given any indication of further development in years now. Oh and that new DMS4 SE EZI chip appears to be vapor ware.
But to get back on topic, yes you are right that tinning your wires and solder points it the best recommendation for a good solder job. Take your time and be patient. Flux is key to a good soldering job but you dont need to over do it with flux.
Have fun!

So you can store ToxicOS on a crystal chip? I dont think you can, and if you cant do that, then it is no way near as good. Yes it is well built with some good features, but the advantages of the DMS 4 SE PRO out-weigh them, IMO, and for only 5-10 bux more. If you haven't seen the Toxic OS in action, you don't know how good your PS2 can be. Combined with a harddrive, it's the best PS2 setup you can get.

Why would you want to use ToxicOs when you can use the current patched HDL with the CC2.0 which does all that ToxicOS does with an HDD. The current Boot manger has In Game Reset (IGR) which no chip till now can offer. The DMS chips are old and unsupported, people need to start realizing this. The CC team is still alive and active and currently developing great things.
DMS chips suffer from 2x rest issues and BSOD's and installation critical specifics that the CC2.0 never suffers from. The CC2.0 is simply an all round superior chip.
But once again you have gotten us off topic.

I like the fact that the you can store an OS on the chip, it totally modifies the PS2 so that it looks and feels so much more like a PC rather than a really lame dashboard. You can even put your own images into it, fully customising it.
But anyway, to get solder to stick to the BIOS pads or any other pads for that matter, we have concluded that they should be prepared with a scalpel or anything that will gently expose the copper, use a nice amount of flux, tin your wires, take your time and be careful.
Case closed.

You need to do some reading, with the new CC2.0 Boot Manger is installed to the chip just like ToxocOS, also Boot Manger is a scripted ELF just like ToxicOS I guess making them both a "really lame dashboard". Boot manger also has a theme manger allowing you to also use your own custom images, themes are a little buggy now hopefully they will address this soon.
To stay with your trend.....
Yes he needs to tin his solder points as well as his wires you are 100% correct on that. Only a small amount of flux is needed ... any extra will just need to be cleaned up.
Case continued ....Have fun!

Yeah I only briefly read the CC2 features, couldn't see any specs on memory size or anything to do with boot manager but it may have been an earlier model. Sounds good, combined with the other features you mentioned I guess I would have to accept that it could be a more stable and much more supported modchip. I'll have to get some in and try them!

Where would be a good place to buy a sample (5) of these chips? My usual supplier doesn't stock them unfortunately.

At 1MB the CC2.0's flash is half the size of the DMS4's, but more then enough room for BM to be installed to.
A good place to look at getting these are
