I need someone to explain how to BURN a PS2 game. I have tried to use DVD Decrypter to read the ISO and then write the ISO to a DVD but when inserted to the PS2 it will not read it.
Please explain to me what programs are needed; step - by - step instructions if possible!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Before I answer some of your questions, let me address some things.

Use meaningful, specific subject headers.

On Web forums, the subject header is your golden opportunity to attract qualified experts' attention in around 50 characters or fewer. Don't waste it on babble like ?Please help me? (let alone ?PLEASE HELP ME!!!!?; messages with subjects like that get discarded by reflex). Don't try to impress us with the depth of your anguish; use the space for a super-concise problem description instead.

More generally, imagine looking at the index of an archive of questions, with just the subject lines showing. Make your subject line reflect your question well enough that the next guy searching the archive with a question similar to yours will be able to follow the thread to an answer rather than posting the question again. And frankly, your subject header tells us absolutely nothing.

Stupid:

HELP!!111!111one111!!eleven11

Smarter:

Installed new ram ASUS Mobo says: SYSTEM FAILED CPU TEST and won't boot.

Second, don't post your email, it is against the rules (http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2487). In forums, asking for a reply by e-mail is outright rude, unless you believe the information may be sensitive (and somebody will, for some unknown reason, let you but not the whole forum know it). If you want an e-mail copy when somebody replies in the thread, request that the Web forum send it; this feature is supported by selecting the subscribe to this thread option.

With that out of the way....

Some type of modification is required to play PS2 backups, either a modchip, using a hard drive & HDLoader, or via swap method (Swap Magic / PS2 Independence Exploit).

The process of burning PS2 backups w/ DVD Decrypter is as follows:

1. Insert blank DVD into drive
2. Open DVD Decrypter
3. Mode->ISO->Write
4. Browse to image file
5. Set Write Speed to 4x OR half the speed of the disc (16x -> 8x)
6. Click on Hard Drive->DVD picture to begin burning

Good Luck!

Thanks orthogonl that was very helpful with all the intro. Being a newbie I do not know the in's and out's.
Next question, I have a Slim Model # SCPH-70012 w/8 screws on the bottom PS2, so what is the best mod chip for that specific model?

Looks like you have a V12 or V13
and what modchip you should get depends on what you want to
do with your PS2 as far as modding it.
for example:
Matrix Infinity is an all around good chip
DMS4 Pro SE is a top choice and has a built in cheat device and support to run a hard drive
Crystal Chip V2.0 has DNAS auto patching so you can play back ups online without having to patch each one manually.

so know what you want and then ask around the forums for the chip that will best suit all your needs.

If you do have a V12 you will also need to get a laser fix installed with the chip. Most good modding sites will do this.
