hi,im trying 2 flash my ms25 sam drive.i have a k8v-mx asus motherboard with 2 onboard sata connects.i used the walk through from here...http://forums.xbox-scene.com/lofiversion/index.php/t573693.html
using bootmaker 0.3.6 & xtreme firmware 4.2.Opened bootmaker,Opened xtreme firmware 4.2b,checked use custom MTKFLASH,then see 6 things 2 choose from
1-standard dual channel pci ide controller
2-primary ide channel
3-secondary ide channel
4-via bus master ide controller
5-primary ide channel
6-secondary ide channel
if i pick 2-6 and hit detect id-l/o it says(this device is not compatable with MTKFLASH) so i pick #1.in the device id i get(11063149)in l/oport(E000D400) then i click ms28 bad flash compatibility,then click apply boke's patch for ms28 drives,target drive= F which is where my usb stick is,click format & make bootable,click prepare drive.
when i check the usb stick it now say...etreme(F:) it has on it backup folder,samsung folder,mtkflash,mtkflash typ,samhack,samorig,samread,samremod,x360sam.
i know boot from usb to dos,cut 360 on and type mtkflash r/m orig.bin,i then see MTKFLASH by Joseph Lin,mtk 1998 (ver.1.83c)it says drive scaned
1-ide sec slave
2-xtreme sec master
3-via8237 sec master
if i pick one of them i get
port:d400,master/slave:ao
flash type:"sst(sst39sfo20)"
era:fail to open input file!
what am i doing wrong :O(

Don't know much about boot maker. I suggest you do this:

Dl the latest FW whihich is not v5.2

- Format a floppy and check the bootable box.

- move the EDITED mtkflash.exe into floppy.

- do the backup cmmd to get your orig.bin on it.

- back to desktop and use the orig to make x52.bin from the package.

-then flash with flash command.

Seems like you have the first part right. The option to choose in DOS is XTREME sec Master.

You may need a pci card. And if you have a slot open it should work.

I don't believe you need a PCI card as you have a VIA sata chipset. As a matter of fact you have the same chipset i have on my board(Asus SK8V) and i did it mine with an MS28 drive.

Try starting over and being very deliberate with the guide you are using and/or use this video guide:

You wanna select number 3 VIA8237 Sec Master on that list.

Input file error is usually because your not typing in the command right, double check it has no spelling errors and try the following at the dos prompt

mtkflash r /m sata orig.bin
mtkflash r/ m orig.bin
mtkflash r /m SATA orig.bin
mtkflash r/ m SATA orig.bin

One of them should do the job
