Hi: If a movie is 144minutes long, can it be backup up to a conventional 120 min. DVD+R disc? What makes a movie too long to backup? Is there anyway to tell prior to actual backup?

The movie can be backed up but in depending on how it was backed up the quality will be noticeable.

Dialysis 1: can you expound about your statement. What do you mean when you say "depending on how it was backed up". Basically, can movies longer that 120 min be backed up on a 120 min disc?

There are many back up programs out there. Depending on how the user sets the program affects how the video will look in the end. The more you strip from the movie, the better quality you'll have. Removing languages that you don't need is one big factor. Removing menus or shrinking them down to still picts can also improve the quality. The type of encoder used is another important factor. The type of discs you burn to can also affect the quality. The list goes on and on.

short anwser, YES there are good programs and better programs for high compression backups.

or you can use a Daul-Layer (DVD-9) and not have ANY compression, your choice

We shall go to the end,we shall fight in France,we shall fight on the seas and oceans,we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air,we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be,we shall fight on the beaches,we shall fight on the landing grounds,we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,we shall fight in the hills;we shall never surrender
