PSX backups on ps2?

I can play original psx games no problem, but I can't get psx backups to work. I'm using verbatim CD-R recordable media, and I'm using a messiah 2 modchip. Any tips?

Thanks, I managed to get it working, but now it's stuck on the loading screen. Does this mean that there is something wrong with the disk, or does my ps2 just not play backups?

try reburning the disk I dont think its the modchip.
