not if you want a good one.
DMS4 Pro, Crystal Chip V2.0 or Matrix Infinity

and if the only function you want is to play back up games
then the cheapest good chip i would suggest is a Duo 3
or Duo GT

and if your slim PS2 is a V12 then you will also need a laser fix if you get a chip
