I used USBEXTREME to convert my ps2 games over to my USBHDD which is a Western Digital My Book 320GB. I created a folder on my USBHDD called SWAPMAGIC and put USBAdvance.elf file in it and renamed it to SWAPMAGIC.elf. I then loaded SWAPMAGIC on my ps2 and it came up and showed a list of my games (16 to be exact) installed under USBAdvance. Only 4 of the 16 games work. Here is my problems:

*Games on my USBHDD work with slow load times: Is there any way to lower the load time.

*Games on my USBHDD load up showing them in black and white and the screen scrolls up and down: Is there any way to fix this issue. I am sure it has something to do with the format. I did the PAL to NTSC convert and it still didnt help. It just comes up as a blank screen instead of flashing.

*Games on my USBHDD act like they are loading but then sit there and the screen goes blank: Is there any way to fix this issue or will I have to get another copy of the game. I did the DNAS swap but it didnt work. Are there any other methods?

All the I want is to be able to play ps2 games off my USBHDD and not worry about having to use the disk or burn copies. Are there any other ELF files that will load games better then USBAdvance? Anyone that could help me I would highly appreciate it.

Well after going through the (SWAPMAGIC, USBHDD, USBAdvance) method I found out that only a few of my games would work at all having slow load times. I did the DNAS switch, PAL to NTSC convert, and everything that I could possibly find in the forums to fix this issue. Nothing worked and it was all just a waste of time.

I suggest to anyone that has a SLIM PS2 dont waste your time trying to use a USBHDD to play games. The games that you do get working will be slow and choppy.

I decided yesterday to just burn copies of my games and use it with SWAPMAGIC. I read on the forums yet again about how to burn the games correctly and no one could get a straight answer and the tutorials didnt help me much. Some people were saying to use DVD +R and some were saying DVD -R. Then I read about DVD quality and everyone was saying high end disks were the best to use. I used Memorex DVD+R and it worked perfectly after trying VERBATIM +R (which was the suggested use) twice which failed.

Now I have a 320GB USBHDD that is basically useless on a slim PS2. The SWAPMAGIC disk is great and it comes with a coder. After 3 days of headache I am now happy.

USBADVANCE/extreme Sucks bro.
There is only like 5 - 10% games working on it. And you cannot speed up the loading times because aparently the ps2 ports are only usb 1.1.
