I am trying to unlock my Nokia 6230. I bought it on ebay and was told that it was unlocked. It worked fine at first; but, for many months now, it often locks up on me and I have to take the battery out and sometimes the SIM card (if the "SIM card rejected" message comes up) and reinsert it/them in order to use it. Often I cannot receive calls on it and the message is immediately diverted to my voice mail. Often I can receive calls and it seems to work fine. I got some codes from another website and tried two of them; but, I think I might have done it wrong. My IMEI is: 355032000821490. The phone says "cingular" on the back; so, I assume it was originally a cingular network from California, USA (where the guy who sold it to me lives). I presently have a T-mobile card in it. Presently, the phone usually locks up on me in the afternoon. When I first tried taking the SIM card out in order to unlock it, the phone would not allow me to do anything until I put the T-mobile card back in there. So, I entered the code while the SIM was still in the phone when the "phone restricted" message came up on the screen the next day. The "code error" message came up. [The other website suggested putting the SIM card back in if it did not work without it. Maybe this was bogus advice and this is the problem.] After reading a few afterdawn forums I tried putting in my old DTAC SIM from Thailand; but the phone powered up as usual with no "phone restricted" message, only it did not show that there was an available network to connect to. If I understand the forum advice right, I need to wait until the phone has the "restricted" message again, then click "undo", then take out the SIM card (behind the battery) and then power it back up? At this point, it will go directly to the screen wherein I enter the code? Is this how it works? Please enlighten me on this. The two codes I have already tried are:
#pw+273415201146313+1# and #pw+807251633564252+7#
Perhaps, one of these is correct, but I did not do everything correctly. I'm not sure. I do not want to try anything again until I know for sure that I am doing it right. Thanks for your assistance.
