Can anyone help a newbie please.
I have a Samsung HP-S5053 HDTV with a Samsung 960 (Upconverting) DVD player connected via HDMI cable so the set up should be perfect i assumed.
However when i play movies or sports DVD's (i watch a lot of motorcycle racing). The picture does not seem as sharp as i think it should be.the main problems seem to be when in a film it pans out to show a large scene (battle scene for instance in Saving Private Ryan) the picture becomes blury or pixelated and on characters faces I get a "wet clay type effect on the skin" is this the norm? am i expecting too much? but from what ive seen of HD the images are incredible which is far from the case on my set up.
I have tried 16:9 and 4:3 set up which sometimes does give slightly better picture, automatic set up,manual set up but non gives a truly clear or blurr free image.
In fact i get a beter picture on my old sony davs 550 and CRT tv!!

Any advice/help would be appreciated.
